Our focus at APT remains very simple. Look after our customers, look after our people, and continue finding better ways to do what we do.

Growth with Purpose
It has certainly been another busy year at All Purpose Transport, and as we head towards what is traditionally our busiest period, I wanted to take the opportunity to share some of what has been happening across the business.
The transport industry never stands still. Customer expectations continue to grow, technology is changing the way we operate, costs remain challenging and the regulatory environment continues to evolve. While there will always be things outside our control, our focus remains the same: look after our customers, look after our people, and keep finding better ways to do what we do.
One of the most encouraging things we have seen recently has been a significant increase in new business enquiries and opportunities.
Our sales team has been extremely active, and we have been successful in securing new work while also continuing to grow with many of our long-term customers. Importantly, we are being disciplined about the type of work we pursue. Our strategy is not simply to chase revenue, it is to focus on services where we know we can add genuine value and provide a great customer experience.
From general freight and regional distribution through to big and bulky home delivery, dedicated fleet services, warehousing and cross-dock operations, our objective is to continue building on the areas where APT has developed real expertise over more than 50 years.
Expanding Our Network
Our Queensland network continues to grow, providing customers with access to an increasingly broad distribution footprint throughout South East Queensland, regional Queensland, and Northern New South Wales. Our Berrinba operation continues to evolve, with our 24-hour cross-dock providing greater flexibility and allowing freight to move through our network more efficiently.
The expectation today is increasingly an Uber-style experience. Customers want to know where their freight is and when it will arrive. We believe that expectation will only increase, and we intend to stay ahead of it.
Behind the scenes, we are continuing to invest heavily in technology. Our dispatch and delivery technology is evolving to provide greater visibility throughout the delivery journey, including improved scanning, tracking, and customer communication.
Zero Emission Transport
We remain particularly proud of our progress in zero-emission transport. APT now operates more than 40 electric vehicles and has built one of Queensland's most experienced electric last-mile delivery operations, which we started back in 2019. Working alongside customers such as IKEA, we are completing thousands of furniture deliveries each week using zero-emission vehicles.
For us, sustainability is not about putting a green logo on a truck and calling the job done. It is about working with our customers to find solutions that are commercially practical, operationally sustainable, and genuinely reduce emissions.
Best People = Best Business
Of course, trucks, warehouses, and technology do not deliver freight, people do. Our philosophy at APT has always been Best People = Best Business, and that remains as relevant today as it was when the business commenced in 1975. We continue to invest heavily in training and development through Project APT, our workforce development program that has been operating since 2012. Over that time, hundreds of our people have completed nationally recognised qualifications, and our commitment was recognised nationally when APT received the Australian Training Award for Large Employer of the Year.
Growth with Purpose
Disciplined pursuit of new business, focused on where APT genuinely adds value, not simply chasing revenue
Technology Forward
Uber-style visibility, improved scanning, tracking and customer communication across every delivery
Zero Emission Fleet
40+ EVs operating since 2019, one of Queensland's most experienced electric last-mile operations
Best People = Best Business
Hundreds of nationally recognised qualifications through Project APT since 2012, Australian Training Award winner
Transport occasionally throws up challenges, traffic happens, weather happens, and sometimes things simply do not go according to plan. Our commitment remains that when something does go wrong, we own it, we communicate, and we fix it.

As we move into the busy period ahead, our teams are focused on ensuring we have the people, vehicles, capacity, and systems in place to support our customers. On behalf of our entire team, thank you for your continued trust and support. We look forward to continuing the journey together.

You might be surprised by how much more APT can do for your business. Del's door and calendar are always open, why not grab a coffee and find out?
In Conversation  ·  Del Fairfield  ·  Business Development & Account Manager
Q
You spent four years in logistics account management before APT. What shaped your approach?
Seeing firsthand the pressure businesses have faced through rising costs and inflation. I enjoy working closely with customers to understand their challenges and find transport solutions that balance excellent DIFOT performance with cost efficiency. For me it is about building genuine relationships and delivering outcomes that make a real difference.
Q
What drew you specifically to APT?
The company culture. People are not just a number here. The principle of best people in the best business is evident everywhere. APT despite its size still allows leaders to make key decisions in real time, no red tape, no bureaucracy, just decisions. There are endless opportunities and everyone is aligned to the same goals.
Q
What surprised you most since joining?
There is a reason APT has been around, successful, and continues to grow every year. Everyone cares. Customers and owner drivers are front and centre. Our teams feel it, our owner drivers feel it, and that just ensures our customers do too.
Q
What does a typical week look like for you?
You will usually find me out on the road meeting customers across Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and the Sunshine Coast. Face-to-face conversations are a big part of what I do, whether that is solving challenges in their final mile solution, exploring growth opportunities, or simply strengthening the relationship between APT and our customers.
Q
What is the most common thing existing customers don't know about APT?
Definitely the broad range of services we offer. We have customers who have been with us for 30 years. Seven years ago we did not do Regional Queensland and today we are sending full B-doubles north, full of freight. The business has evolved enormously and a lot of customers are yet to discover what that means for them.
Q
What would you say to a long-standing customer who has only ever used one APT service?
There may be services available that could genuinely benefit your business, Regional, dedicated Contract Logistics, 2-Person EV Home Delivery. I would just encourage them to reach out, even if it is just a coffee and a chat, to see if there are ways we can add more value and make their lives easier.
"
An ideal customer conversation is relaxed, honest, and valuable for both sides. If they walk away feeling listened to and confident they can pick up the phone and call me anytime, that is a good conversation.

W3
Week Three
Staged Rollout Commences
A staggered implementation approach was agreed, SEQ services activated first, followed by Regional QLD. This phased process ensured a smooth, controlled transition rather than a hard cutover that could expose any gaps in coverage.
W4

Regional QLD Activated
Regional distribution lanes go live. APT's network of 30 partner carriers engaged for last mile delivery across Queensland. Full linehaul and delivery coverage active.
W6+
Go Live
Fully Operational, Zero Issues

In Their Own Words  ·  Damian Salt  ·  QLD Warehouse Manager  ·  Huhtamaki
Q
What does Huhtamaki distribute from Queensland and who do you serve?
Our Foodservice Packaging business offers high quality paperboard and molded fiber packaging solutions for fresh food and drinks. We serve quick service and fast casual restaurants, coffee shops, and vending operators with paper cups and other food-to-go packaging.
Q
What were you looking for in a logistics partner?
Huhtamaki were looking to partner with an established freight company to meet our business demands, a partner with the capability and the reach to handle what we needed, reliably and at scale.
Q
What stood out about APT during the selection process?
APT stood out with their diverse freight solution style, and more importantly the demographic APT covers. The breadth of the network was the deciding factor, the reach is genuinely difficult to match.
Q
How did the onboarding go?
Onboarding was simple once the admin side was taken care of. Implementing different stages through a staggered process made for a smooth transition. No disruption, no drama, exactly what you want when you are changing providers.
Q
What has the experience been like since go-live?
Having APT onboard has simplified the way we deliver our goods, streamlining what was once a messy process for Huhtamaki. It has made a genuine difference to how we operate day to day.
Q
How has APT's Regional and SEQ network added value?
Having a vast reach has enabled Huhtamaki to move goods further. Being on demand and the ability to move large quantities of freight shows the true capabilities of APT. That reach is everything for a business like ours.

The Service
What APT Regional Actually Does
Put simply, APT Regional is Queensland's one-stop freight solution. If you need goods moved anywhere in the state, or across the border into Northern NSW, Regional handles it. One call, one provider, full coverage.
Before APT Regional, businesses moving freight across Queensland faced a patchwork of carriers, each covering their own slice of the map. North Queensland with one operator. Central Queensland with another. Western routes with a third. The coordination burden sat entirely with the customer. APT Regional changed that.
Whether you are shipping a small skid to Weipa or a full B-double load to Mount Isa, Regional manages the entire movement. No gaps. No handoffs to operators you have never met. One relationship from pickup to proof of delivery.
Return freight and backloading in the other direction means your empty lanes become productive lanes. APT Regional operates as a complete two-way freight network, not just a one-way delivery service.
The Process
How Every Regional Consignment Moves
01
Inbound Received
Freight arrives at Berrinba via SEQ collection or interstate linehaul and is scanned in at the dock
02
Staged by Destination

05
Scanned in at Destination
Full chain of custody maintained. Freight scanned in on arrival at every partner depot

Label Integrity.
Why it Matters.
The label is the most underestimated piece of the logistics chain. Get it right and freight flows. Get it wrong and everything stops.
10-20
Label Issues Per Day at Our Facility
24hrs+
Minimum Delay When a Label Fails
100%
Preventable With the Right Label
The Label is the Heartbeat of Your Freight
Every consignment that moves through the APT network relies on one thing above all else, the label. It tells our team who sent it, where it is going, how many pieces are in the consignment, and how to handle it. Without that information, freight does not move. It stops, gets quarantined, and waits while someone manually tracks down what should have been on a sticker.
Between 10 and 20 shipments a day at our Berrinba facility have some form of label or data issue. Every single one of those is a delay that did not have to happen. The fix is almost always the same, a better label applied correctly before the freight left the warehouse.
When Labels Fail
The Real Cost of a Bad Label
⏳
24 Hour Minimum Delay
When a barcode cannot be scanned, the pallet is quarantined and requires manual intervention, usually the following day. For regional freight the delay can be far longer depending on the destination port and next available linehaul.
💃
Ghost Shipments
A consignment without a readable label loses all system visibility. It becomes a ghost, we cannot see it, we cannot track it, and there is no auditable trail of where it has been or where it is going. Recovery takes significant manual effort.
💰
Costs and Claims
Delays caused by label failures generate charges and costs for both the carrier and the customer. In serious cases they result in insurance claims. Lost freight due to missing labels can trigger full liability disputes.
📍
Wrong Final Mile Delivery
Without a clear label, freight can be sent to the wrong destination, or worse, sent regional when it should have been local. Recovering a misdelivered pallet is costly, time-consuming, and damages your relationship with your end customer.
📊
DIFOT Impact
Label-related delays create ambiguity in DIFOT reporting. We have to review whether failures are culpable or non-culpable, but either way your performance data is affected and your customers experience the delay regardless of the cause.
🔗
Broken Chain of Custody
Labels confirm the sender and consignee at every scan point. Without them the audit trail breaks. For compliance, insurance, and liability purposes, a missing or unreadable label can expose both APT and the customer to serious risk.
Visual Evidence
Good Labels vs Bad Labels, In Real Life
✓
Good Label, Clear, Flat, Scannable
Good label example
Clean print, flat application, barcode unobstructed, consignment number and address clearly readable from distance. Scans first time, every time.
✗
Bad Label, Crinkled, Wrapped, Unreadable
Bad label example, wrapped and unreadable
Label caught under shrink wrap, folded and crinkled. Barcode completely obscured. This pallet goes straight to quarantine, no exceptions.
✓
Good Label, Correct Format and Placement
Good label example, correct placement
Yellow high-visibility label, mid-pallet placement on the outer of the shrink wrap, large consignment number, clear suburb and postcode, barcode at bottom fully exposed.
✗
Bad Label, Multiple Labels, Handwriting, Chaos
Bad label example, multiple labels and handwriting
Multiple overlapping labels, handwritten annotations, conflicting information. Impossible to determine which label is current. Causes delays, confusion, and potential misdelivery.
The Standard
What a Good Connote Label Looks Like
Ideal label diagram
1
Consignment number runs across the entire top of the label, large, bold, readable from a forklift seat at 2 to 2.5 metres
2
Receiver details on the left, name in large bold type, suburb and postcode large and clear. This is what our team scans for first
3
Sender details on the right, confirms origin, assists with return freight and any discrepancy resolution
4
Barcode and QR code large and fully visible at the bottom, unobstructed, flat on the surface, not folded or wrapped over
5
One label per pallet face, placed mid-height on the outer of the shrink wrap. If all four sides carry a label, the speed of processing increases significantly
Inside the System
What Good Data Looks Like in the APT System
SmartSCAN, Consignment Entry
SmartSCAN consignment entry screenshot
When a label scans correctly, the consignment appears immediately in SmartSCAN with full sender, receiver, service, and delivery instruction data, ready for allocation and dispatch without manual intervention.
Scan Events, Full Audit Trail
Scan events audit trail screenshot
Every scan event is timestamped and logged against the consignment, arrival at depot, dock location drop, bay assignment. This is the audit trail that proves chain of custody. A missing label means this trail does not exist.
Pre-Despatch
Your Label Checklist, Before Every Consignment Leaves
✓
Barcode and QR code are flat, unobstructed, and scan without manual assist
✓
Delivery address on the label matches the electronic consignment data exactly
✓
Receiver name, suburb, and postcode are in large bold type, readable from 2 metres
✓
Consignment number is correct and matches the manifest, no duplicates, no old labels left on the pallet
✓
Label is placed mid-height on the outer of the shrink wrap, not underneath, not on a corner fold
✓
Pallet count on label matches actual pallet count, manifested and physical quantities align
✓
Dangerous goods correctly classified and declared on the label and in the data
✓
All four sides of the pallet carry a label where possible, speeds processing and reduces handling time
✓
Label is printed, not handwritten. No handwritten annotations or corrections over a printed label
✓
Delivery instructions are in the electronic data, not only on the packing slip inside the carton
"
Good data in means same-day out. Bad data in means someone makes a phone call, the freight waits, and nobody is happy. It really is that simple.

Performance
APT Leads the Industry on Safety Performance
The Lost Time Incident Frequency Rate (LTIFR) measures how often a workplace injury results in time away from work, per million hours worked. An industry average above 5.0, APT's P1 result of 2.69 puts us well ahead of the field.
Safety performance at APT is not measured by luck or by absence of incidents alone, it is built on a systematic, data-driven approach to risk management that starts before the first truck leaves the depot each morning. Our Period 1 LTIFR of 2.69 reflects that discipline.
An LTIFR of 2.69 is not just a good number for APT. In the transport and logistics sector, it is industry-leading. We intend to keep it that way.
The numbers behind the headline: 3 lost time injuries across the period, 1 medically treated injury, and a TRIFR of 3.59 with a projected end-of-year result of 1.79, continuing a positive downward trend.

Fatigue Management
99.96% Compliance, Across 100 Active Drivers
Our Standard Fatigue Management records are received, reviewed, and acted on across all divisions every week. Period 1 saw the highest compliance rates across the business with only one non-conformance recorded across the entire period.
Safety Compliance Checks P1
P1 Onsite Safety Observations and Load Restraint Checks YTD
With 100 active drivers across our network, the fatigue compliance data for Period 1 is a strong result by any measure. 97.32% of records received on time or offroad, 0% received late, and just 0.39% not completed, representing a single non-conformance across the entire period.
Our load restraint observation programme runs every single day across every division. 365 checks completed YTD to July, not because we have to, but because it is the right thing to do.
We also run safety compliance checks on behalf of customers at their fixed operations sites, extending our safety culture beyond our own walls and into the supply chains of the businesses we serve.
Fleet Compliance
Leading the Way on Fleet Compliance Legislation
Recent changes to fleet compliance legislation raised the bar for the entire industry. APT was already operating above it.
The new legislative requirement to include vehicle maintenance and service records as part of the registered fleet compliance check impacted scores across the industry in the first three weeks of implementation, as businesses scrambled to build processes around the new requirement.
APT had those processes in place. By the final week of Period 1, every single division had returned to 100% fleet compliance. Not one exception.
This is what it looks like when compliance is embedded in the culture rather than bolted on as an afterthought. Our fleet compliance programme runs continuously, not just when inspections are due.

CHAIN OF RESPONSIBILITY (COR)
CHAIN OF RESPONSIBILITY (COR), What It Means for You as a Customer
CHAIN OF RESPONSIBILITY (COR) means every party in the supply chain, including the consignor and consignee, has legal obligations around safety. APT takes those obligations seriously on your behalf and on ours.

Every APT vehicle meets roadworthiness and maintenance standards. We do not put an unsafe vehicle on the road, and our compliance records prove it every period.
😴
Fatigue Management
Every driver in our network operates under a Standard Fatigue Management plan. Records are reviewed weekly. Non-conformances are escalated and investigated immediately.
⚓
Load Restraint
Improperly restrained loads are a leading cause of road fatalities. Our daily observation programme across all divisions ensures freight is loaded, secured, and restrained to standard every time.
📋
Consignor Obligations
Your obligations as a consignor under CHAIN OF RESPONSIBILITY (COR) include ensuring goods are correctly packed, labelled, and declared. APT can help you understand and meet those obligations, ask your account manager.
👥
Contractor Standards
Our 30 regional partners and all owner-drivers are held to the same compliance standards as our direct employees. CHAIN OF RESPONSIBILITY (COR) does not stop at the APT fleet, it runs through the entire network.
📊
Technology-Driven Compliance
We use technology, EWD, fatigue monitoring, real-time vehicle tracking, to identify compliance issues before they become incidents. Prevention, not reaction.
Technology Investment
A Smarter, Safer Way to Know Who is On Site
In Period 1 APT introduced a new digital attendance register for all colleagues and visitors, replacing the traditional sign-in book with a system that is faster, more accurate, and more powerful when it matters most.
The new system uses digital card and smartphone app technology combined with geofencing, meaning the moment a colleague arrives at or departs from site, their attendance is automatically registered without them lifting a finger. No more forgotten sign-ins. No more inaccurate records.
In an emergency, you need to know exactly who is on site in seconds. The old sign-in book cannot do that. Our new system can.
When visitors arrive and sign in, the system automatically sends a notification to the APT contact they are visiting, by email and SMS, so there is no waiting at reception and no missed arrivals. And in an emergency evacuation, the system generates a live, accurate list of everyone on site that our emergency response team can access instantly from any device.
Phase 1 of the system implementation is now complete at Berrinba. This is the foundation of a more connected, more accountable, and more responsive site safety environment.

Emergency Preparedness
Fire Evacuation Drill, Brilliantly Executed
During Period 1, APT conducted its annual fire evacuation drill at Berrinba. Every person on site evacuated safely, calmly, and within the required timeframe. No exceptions.
Fire Warden Training
APT Annual Fire Warden Training, Berrinba
The annual fire evacuation drill is not a formality at APT, it is a genuine test of our emergency response capability, our fire warden team, and the effectiveness of our on-site procedures. Period 1's drill was one of the best we have executed.
When the alarm sounds, there is no time to think. The only thing that matters is that everyone knows exactly what to do. Our team proved they do.
The exercise was observed and assessed against our emergency response procedures. All evacuation points were staffed correctly. All personnel were accounted for within the required timeframe. The new digital attendance system, newly implemented, provided an accurate, real-time headcount that supported the fire wardens throughout the evacuation.
This is what a proactive safety culture looks like in practice. Not just policies on paper, real people, well-trained, responding with confidence when it counts.

Safe Work. Every Job. Every Day. It is not a slogan. It is the standard we hold ourselves to, and the standard we expect of everyone in our network.
